Wunderkammer is an ongoing collection of curiosities—objects I collect and make, each revealing something unexpected. The project was sparked by a visit to the Cabinet of Curiosity at the University of Coimbra during a residency at Studio 459 in 2024. Conversations with mentor Mark Richards encouraged the curation of a personal cabinet: a space to assemble, observe and reflect on these finds and keepsakes.
The growing collection is informed by pareidolia—the human tendency to perceive patterns and meaning in randomness. Plastic fixings, natural materials and material tests are re-seen as figures or forms: some animal-like, others almost devotional. Certain objects act as prompts for future projects, while others carry nostalgia, evoking distant memories and familiar emotional responses.
