What the Botanist Saw
The idea was to situate a series of Victorian 'peep show' style boxes throughout Chester Zoo as part of their Wild Worlds festival. Part of our brief aimed to raise awareness of the botanical research and exhibitions the zoo has to offer. Combating 'plant blindness'. We designed, constructed and installed three coin-operated machines and worked in collaboration with Illuminos to create a series of short 3D animations, seen when viewers gazed through the viewfinder.
Thank you to everyone involved in the project:
Sam Petz for his design input and craftsmanship throughout the project, Illuminos for their animations, the traditional sign writing of Russ Young and the logistics of the hardware by Nick Dulake at Sheffield Hallam University.
